Musical Theatre & Dance
Our academic year is divided into two semesters (Aug-Dec and Jan-May) for each class/age group. Each session will stand alone with a unique focus so a student may take either (or both) sessions over the course of the year without repeating the curriculum. Limited experience is needed dependent on the age group/class selection. Topics, modified with age-appropriate lessons, will range from voice and diction, to improvisation and scene work - even how to audition. Throughout the year, special camps and workshops take place – so be sure to check out the schedule to find out what’s happening and when.
All curriculum is aligned with the Indiana Theater Standards for grades K-12 as posted on the Indiana Department of Education website. 4-week trial sessions will be available for some classes over the course of the year. Every class will incorporate a warm-up, focused lesson, practice time, and share out.
A non-refundable YEARLY registration fee of $25 per family is due upon enrollment (collected per academic year Aug-July). This fee is factored into the tuition of each class for your convenience. If you plan to register more than one child, please reach out for a sibling discount code.
Please remember to check out using the CART function in the upper right-hand corner. If you do not get an email confirmation, you have not fully registered for a class or camp. Thank you!
MUSICAL THEATRE – dancing
Beginner - New to dance style (2nd-4th)
OR
Intermediate/Advanced - Currently taking dance/trained in past (5th-10th grade)
This class is for CHOREOGRAPHY (dance) BUILDING. In musical theatre, there are typical steps you will see in your next dance callback to ace your audition. We will have TWO 6-week sessions in which we will introduce a new song and teach students to dance to that piece of music. Occasional solos will be given, but this class mostly focuses on the role of the ensemble in terms of DANCING. Jazz or ballet shoes will be needed for all classes except tap classes. Tap shoes must be brand name in order to protect the dance floor surface.
The BEGINNER class is ideal for those who have never danced or have never been introduced to a certain style of dance (tap, jazz, contemporary, etc.).
The INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED class is designed for those who are currently taking dance classes or may have taken in the past and need to brush up for an audition or keep skills up to par – or just want to let loose and have a little fun learning a dance to one of their favorite songs! We will work at a FAST pace in a workshop style 1x a month.
You can sign up for every session or just one at a time. This class does NOT participate in Share Weeks unless otherwise noted.
Beginner classes are 40 minutes. $60 per student for a 6-week session
Intermediate/advanced classes are 1 hour. $15-20 per student per session
